Apex recognizes that the long-term health of our business is directly connected to the health of the planet and local communities. We remain focused on sourcing environmental solutions that will lessen our footprint while serving as an example to our peers. Our Environmental Policy focuses on finding solutions that reduce our own footprint and inspire action in others.
Since 2015, Apex Steel has been at the forefront of the green movement, becoming the first and only steel company in the region to be awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certificate. LEED is a popular green building certification programs used worldwide that includes a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes, and neighbourhoods. The aim is to help building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently.
Apex Steel’s manufacturing process and products help create a healthier indoor environment for occupants through better indoor air quality, less harmful products and more natural daylight. They also reduce waste, conserve energy, decrease water consumption, and drive innovation.
Education is the backbone of development in a country and therefore Apex Group has been a key player in support of educational initiatives to improve the educational standards especially in the informal settlements in Kenya.
In this area, we have aided schools in the construction of classrooms and donated desks.
We are happy to support the school with its goal to educate children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Apex Steel donated desks to the Salama Gachie Community School that was founded in May 2014 with the goal to educate children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Located in Nairobi, Kenya, the school is in a semi-slum on Red Hill Road in Kiambu County.
We are proud to support Joy Divine Children’s Orphanage as they work to become a self-sustaining children’s home.
The NGO works with other like-minded partners to transform the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children and to keep issues of vulnerable children on the national agenda.
In support, Apex Steel donated hundreds of pallets to assist in the construction of beds and desks for the children.
At Apex, we recognize that youth are the most important and dynamic segment of the population in any country. It is believed that developing countries with large youth population could see tremendous growth, provided they invest in young people’s education, health, protect, and guarantee their rights.
Apex Group is dedicated to providing ongoing training and workshops for youth and young professionals, helping them to learn skills needed for their trades such as plumbing and steel fixing. This is done in collaboration with institutions such as WASPA, KEWI and CITC.
