Many steel manufacturers will face a tough adjustment period in adhering to the new regulations, but for Apex, the switch has been seamless, as we have been using internationally approved deformed/ribbed steel bars since 2006. For more than a decade, Apex has been the only company in the region to manufacture Deformed Bars – BS: 4449 – 2005; GRADE 500+ that conform to ISO 6935-2. The company has many ‘firsts’ to its credit. It is the first company to get KEBS certification and subsequently the Diamond Mark of Quality.

GOING GREEN

Apex pioneered the selling of its steel by weight rather than the number of pieces so that customers get more value. Apex was also the first company to engrave our brand, APEX TMX, on each meter of our steel rods, in addition to the steel grade and diameter. It was the first company in the region to have its manufacturing processes LEED certified, qualifying it for the construction of green buildings here in Kenya and Apex is also the first company to have a ‘state-of- the-art’ in-house testing facility to test the quality of steel.
